What do you do when you worked all week, friends are suggesting “Let’s go do something rad this weekend!” and you even have the weekend off and nothing planned? What if you really feel like getting out of the house and feel how young you actually are? Maybe you can’t be as spontaneous as to just get out for the weekend but you sure are heading to Budapest, for perhaps a longer time. Well, hey – let’s go do something! Let’s treat ourselves with some wellness too. We chose Bliss Hotel & Wellness – in the center of Budapest.
It was just a couple weeks before our weekend we decided on this hotel. Their offer on booking.com caught our interest, so we called them on the phone. We were told that they might suggest an even better offer if we just wrote an e-mail with an inquiry. And they held their promise.
What initially would have been
- two nights,
- wellness & fitness entrance included,
- in a two-bedroom apartment,
- two nights,
- in the two-bedroom apartment,
- bathrobes included,
- a late check-out (2pm)
- and a bottle of wine at check-in time for pretty much the same price.
You can guess we didn’t say no. So we made the reservation and at the time of our weekend we were off to Hungary’s capital. We did have a bit of a misfortune on the highway with a flat tire, so we were a bit late and arrived at 6:30pm instead of 3 or 4 pm, but we arrived. And we were very content with our little apartment for four on the seventh floor with kitchen, bathroom with a washing machine and a balcony with view over beautiful Budapest.
One thing we were also very happy about was that this hotel is quite central and just at the end of the street, there is another street full of fast food places, pubs, bars and clubs. Just down, almost next door, there is also another pub. You don’t hear any noise thought, at least not from the seventh floor. And especially not if you have the windows closed.
A thing that bothered me though, was that they don’t seem to have their website completely updated, because apparently the breakfast is not 8€ but 10€. And the parking was a bit more expensive than written on their website and e-mail as well. If you go by car, you should definitely be careful with parking. If you park on the street during the week and saturday, you will have to get a parking ticket. It’s good to compare what is cheaper for you – the hotel’s parking garage or parking your car on the street. Maybe it’s better to know your vehicle safe in their garage.
As to the spa, I expected more. Yes, they do have quite a big pool and also the whirlpool, a sauna and a steam bath, but maybe I just thought there’d be more of a spa feeling since they are “hotel & wellness”. But I also have to say we didn’t have time to try out their massages, which, in my opinion, aren’t expensive there. So go ahead and try it out it seems to be really nice, given their wide range of different massages. We also didn’t try the fitness room, which is about as big as their “wellness” area, giving you lots of different options to work out. It’s being used by non-hotel guests a lot as well. Seems worth it.
All in all we were content and happy and enjoyed our stay with Bliss Hotel & Wellness. Recommendable for people who don’t want to spend too much and still have a pool, whirlpool a comfortable bed and room and other options mentioned for a good price.
